A sport of the popular Coreopsis ‘Limerock Ruby', which was launched in the UK by Blooms of Bressingham in 2003, C. ‘Limerock Passion' smoulders with lavender-pink coloured flowers all through the summer. A graceful plant with dark green foliage, the flower colour varies as the blooms mature, softening from lavender to lighter pink shades. The flowers have vibrant yellow centres and are attractive to bees and butterflies. Plants do not require staking and grow into mounded self-supporting plants which are drought tolerant once established.
Coreopsis ‘Limerock Ruby,' the parent of Coreopsis ‘Limerock Passion', is a natural cross of unknown parentage found growing amongst paving stones at Mary Ann Faria's nursery, Limerock Plant Farm in Lincoln, Rhode Island, USA. Coreopsis ‘Limerock Passion' is a naturally occurring sport of Coreopsis ‘Limerock Ruby' and has been successfully trialled in the USA and in the UK by Blooms of Bressingham at their New Plant Development trials site located at R A Meredith, Bressingham, Norfolk.
