Launched at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2002, this beautiful new form of Jacobs Ladder has dark purple leaves and large single light violet-blue flowers. In 1996 President of Blooms of Bressingham, Adrian Bloom, selected a particularly dark purple-leafed form of Polemonium from a batch of hundreds raised at Bressingham. The striking vibrant purple leaf colour of this new plant is further enhanced as the large, light violet-blue flowers open and the prominent bright yellow anthers further add to its delightful charm.
Polemonium Bressingham Purple forms a mound of burnished, dark-purple, pinnate leaves with contrasting flowers held on erect stems above the foliage, making it a stunning plant in the border or in containers from early to mid-summer. Try it with the popular variegated Jacobs Ladder, Polemonium Brise dAnjou, also introduced by Blooms of Bressingham. Attractive to bees and butterflies, ideal to plant in groups of three to form a mass of foliage colour. Flowers June-July with occasional secondary flowering in autumn. Height 70cm (28 inch). Width 45cm (18 inch)
